Kids Ministry Coordinator

Position: Kids Ministry Coordinator | Foundation Bible Church, Prosser, WA

Position status: Part-time hourly 25-30 hr/week

Responsible to: Next-Gen Director

Position Summary: This position reports to the Next-Gen Director and oversees Foundation Kids (birth–5th grade) and family ministry inside and outside of Sunday morning. Primarily, this position leads volunteers to execute a family-ministry approach and supports the Next-Gen Director in equipping parents to disciple their families and equipping leaders to grow in ministry skills.

When this role is winning, parents feel supported as the primary disciple-makers of their homes, kids are excited to attend church, and Foundation Bible Church continues to attract and retain new families.

Details and Metrics: This position aims to grow the ministry through the following targets and metrics:

  • Volunteer leadership engagement

  • Parent/family involvement in Kids' Ministry

  • Regular Sunday Kid’s attendance

  • Engagement in disciple-making events (Milestone events and/or family trainings)

  • Attendance and volunteer leadership involvement in significant family-oriented events

  • (camps, etc.)

Required Skills:

  • Loves Kid's Ministry and has a passion to lead themselves and others to hear and obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Can articulate the gospel in a way that children of all ages can easily understand and reproduce.

  • Foundation Bible Church member or in the process of becoming a member, displaying consistent spiritual and moral character and actively living out spiritual rhythms.

  • A leadership style focused on developing others and equipping them to carry out ministry tasks.

  • Committed to a strong work ethic, a high level of personal responsibility, and a bias towards action with effective time management.

  • Ability to organize people, projects, events, documents, and resources across multiple classrooms and various levels of involvement from volunteers.

  • Proven ability to lead from the front of a room, verbally, organized, and confident. 

  • Excels at being a team player with excellent cross communication skills.

  • Able to teach children of all ages as well as adults.

  • Proficient in or prepared to learn the Planning Center database system and scheduling.

  • Familiar with systems of 400 person organizations (school or church).

  • Familiar with scope of care 100 plus kids and their families.

Helpful Skills:

  • Familiar with church-specific kids ministry curriculum theories (Orange, Gospel Project, GO!, etc.)

  • Dual Language (Spanish and English)

  • Background in childhood education or childhood development

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for Sunday Morning Kids ministry at all Sunday morning services in a way that creates and maintains a safe and supportive environment for children and families to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Work with Foundation leadership to create and manage the Kids Ministry calendar to align with the church's calendar.

  • Recruit and support volunteer leaders in Kids Ministry

  • Support the Next-Gen Director to conduct ongoing leadership development for volunteers and participate in all church training sessions and the Equip Conference.

  • Provide regular communication to families and kids with the purpose of equipping spiritually and increasing engagement with Foundation Bible Church.

  • Work under the direction of the Next-Gen Director to create engaging milestones for a birth - 5th grade ministry plan that involves kids and families.

  • Schedule all volunteers and/or coordinate childcare for the appropriate ministry on Sunday mornings and for other family ministry events, such as Worship Nights, Family Meetings, and outreach events (in partnership with other church staff).

  • Prepare curriculum and curriculum supplies as necessary so that all volunteer leaders feel equipped and ready to do their job.

  • Oversee the Kids Ministry area of the church, including all equipment, toys, and supplies, and physical space.

  • Co-lead family outreach events with Next-Gen Director: family/community events and Ambassador Soccer Camp (or equivalent event)

  • Manage appropriate ministry-specific budget.

  • Other duties as assigned.
